Frequently Asked Questions

How could I have used this much water?

You may not have - the numbers on your meter may have been transposed or hard to read. You could possibly have a leaky toilet or faucet that's difficult to detect. Just call the office and we'll work with you to solve the problem.

My bill is past due. Can I get an extension?

Please contact our office and a one-time extension may be extended to you for extenuating circumstances.

What do I do if I am experiencing low water pressure?

Check your meter and the surrounding area for possible leaks. Next, call our office and report low pressure for your area.

Why do I have a previous balance when I know I sent in my payment?

We may have received it after the due date or we may not have received it at all. Payments are applied when they are received by our office, not by the date on the check, money order, or mailing date. Call our office and we will help you solve the problem.

Why is my water discolored?

A repair could have been completed recently, allowing air to enter the line, causing the milky look.

Who do I contact about my sewer bill?

Sewage / wastewater within the Village of Buckeye is handled by Licking County Water and Wastewater. Please contact them at 740-928-0302.

Water Rates

The Water Department is a Public Utility. To continue providing reliable high-quality water service, the Village must implement rates to its customers to cover costs and mandates of the Ohio EPA.

Water rate review has provided us with our next 5-year plan as listed below Small and incremental rate increases are simply the Best Business Practice, as outlined by RCAP Financial Management, to implement smaller annual adjustments to water rates to avoid higher rate adjustments in the future.

On November 28, 2022, the Village of Buckeye Lake Council adopted a five-year schedule of rates as recommended by department based on a RCAP formula rate study. This five year schedule allows for both budgeting for the water system and budgeting by the customer. After the initial rate reset in 2023, the next 4 years are based on average of 1.5% inflation factor each year. Additional Gallons are being increased at a direct cost passed on to customers.

For its part, the Buckeye Lake Water Department continues to work to reduce internal costs including water loss controls and instituting efficiency programs to reduce energy costs. The Buckeye Lake Water Department also continually strives to provide most effective service and quality water for customers in Buckeye Lake.

In 2027 the Village of Buckeye Lake will conduct new 5-year rate study for the water system. Once that study is complete the results will be presented to Council for approval of new 5-year schedule.
